The Minded Addiction Recovery Kit (MARK) course is provided as a 6 week course specifically for addiction. While it is designed for addiction to substances including alcohol, it can also be beneficial for people with other addictions including issues with food. Each session lasts for two hours and has three distinct parts which have been selected for their neurological effect.
Sessions start with a specially designed yoga nidra for experiencing deep relaxation in a safe environment. The practice helps release dopamine which is much needed in recovery. We then move to a Kundalini Yoga Kriya to encourage the release of endorphins and to increase the flow of oxygen and energy into the system, use of the breath, grounding and mindfulness. Group work, in the form of mindful enquiry, takes place throughout the course to help with understanding the processes taking place for each person and for the group as a whole.
The course can complement other forms of treatment or therapy for addiction. While it is not necessary to be in recovery to attend, participants must not attend under the influence of alcohol or substances.
If you are interested in attending this course, please contact Carolyn to register your interest. The next course is being planned for 2019 and will be for a maximum of 6 people. The total cost of the course is £125. Payment can be made in instalments before the start date.
An adapted version of the MARK course can be delivered on an individual basis on request and 1:1 recovery planning sessions can be booked alongside the course. Individual sessions are available at a cost of £55 per hour.
Carolyn trained at the Minded Institute in London to deliver the MARK course and also worked as a specialist social worker and manager for an NHS addictions service for 5 years.
